Biweekly Pokemon Tournaments; that are Vgc, or smogon, depending on what the community wants.  (depending on how big this forum gets as well.) |

What kinds of incentives would be good, and plausible, for a bi-weekly tournament? Money, community recognition, etc? Would each tournament be independent or part of a series/season? If the latter, how do you prevent it from turning into "well I participated in the most tournaments, therefor I am most likely to win even though I am not actually placing first regularly."
We can look towards current regular local gaming tournaments to see how something like this can be successful. Mtg has weekly paid tournaments, but the days are often separated by format. By offering different formats such as VGC and various Smogon tiers we can have a large number of variety and community activity while not requiring players to spend multiple days a week to participate in any particular format. Of course, each format can have a different way they are run. Some of the more popular formats can feature paid entry and monetary reward, while less popular formats can have free entry in order to attract a larger amount of people. The specifics can be changed depending on the demands of the community, but it could be a place to start.

Great suggestions! What we'll have to do is feel out the community on whether they'll be comfortable dropping cash on a Tournament where they could lose to a unfortunate crit. What we can do is create polls to see what everyone will want. I'll see what the head admin wants to do.

I love the idea of paid tournaments and have run some pretty successful ones in the past. However, I want the League to focus on being a successful league before adding services like tournaments. We could start trying these once Gym Leaders are active.
I would personally love having themed tourneys where contestants are limited to using current gym themes, OU tournaments, and VGC tournaments following the Pokémon Company's events (like the Spooky Cup? that they are doing for Halloween).

Wow really! That's really awesome. Would you also be able to stream the battles? I'm not up to speed on 3DS streaming.
